Step 1 — Choose a Ministry-Inspected School (Check the BSID)

To earn your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), your credits must come from an Ontario Ministry-inspected school with a valid BSID.

Aubrey Academy’s BSID: #665140

This ensures your credits are recognized by Ontario universities, colleges, and for NCAA eligibility planning. Ministry-inspected means the school is authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education to grant OSSD credits and is subject to regular provincial quality assurance and oversight.

You can verify any school’s BSID by visiting the Ontario Ministry of Education Private Schools Search tool at:
https://www.ontario.ca/page/private-schools#section-3
Simply enter the school name (“Aubrey Academy”) or the BSID number (665140) to confirm its Ministry-inspected status.

Step 2 — Understand the Updated OSSD Requirements

Starting in the 2024–25 school year, students entering Grade 9 must earn:

  • 30 total credits (17 compulsory + 13 optional)

  • Pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement

  • Complete 40 hours of community involvement

  • Earn 2 online learning credits (families can opt out without penalty)

Compulsory credits include:

  • 4 English (1 per grade)

  • 3 Mathematics (incl. at least 1 in Grade 11 or 12)

  • 2 Science

  • 1 Canadian History (Grade 10)

  • 1 Canadian Geography (Grade 9)

  • 1 Technological Education (Grade 9 or 10) – new requirement as of 2024–25

  • 1 Arts

  • 1 Health & Physical Education

  • 1 French as a Second Language

  • 0.5 Career Studies (Grade 10)

  • 0.5 Civics and Citizenship (Grade 10)

If you started Grade 9 before 2024–25, your graduation plan may follow earlier requirements. We review every transcript individually and map the exact path to your diploma.
