SBI4U supports more than one pathway. Whether you are heading to university, college, an apprenticeship or the skilled trades, or straight into the workplace, this credit counts toward your OSSD.

Biology, Grade 12, University Preparation (SBI4U)
This course provides students with the opportunity for in-depth study of the concepts and processes that occur in biological systems. Students will study theory and conduct investigations in the areas of biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, homeostasis, and population dynamics. Emphasis will be placed on the achievement of detailed knowledge and the refinement of skills needed for further study in various branches of the life sciences and related fields.
Prerequisite: Grade 11 Biology, University Preparation

How the online course works
- Register online and receive access to your course in Google Classroom.
- Learn at your pace with lessons and assignments. Your teacher returns feedback and grades, usually within 3 to 5 business days.
- Complete your assessments as you finish each unit, with support from your teacher along the way.
- Receive your credit. We send your final mark to your home school and submit it to OUAC.

What is the prerequisite for SBI4U?
The Ontario prerequisite for SBI4U is SBI3U, Grade 11 Biology, University Preparation.
Do I need SBI4U for nursing or health sciences?
Many nursing, health science and life science programs require or recommend SBI4U. Check the admission requirements for each program you are applying to.
Are there labs in the online course?
Yes. Lab skills are developed through virtual labs, simulations and data analysis activities that meet the Ontario curriculum expectations.
How long does SBI4U take online?
The course has 110 hours of lessons. You have 4 months from enrollment, and extensions are available up to 12 months in total. Many students finish sooner because the course is self-paced.
Will my SBI4U mark be accepted?
Yes. Aubrey Academy is Ministry-inspected, and we submit your final grade directly to OUAC and send your report card to your home school.
I already took SBI4U. Can I raise my mark?
Yes. Our Mark Upgrade option builds on the work you already completed instead of retaking the full course.
